I’ve been continuing on the path I started about 8 years ago in sonoma county – playing original music with a close-knit collective of some of the most amazing musicians on the left coast. Cannonball, founded almost 8 years ago, just released our 3rd full length CD and continues to perform live around the SF Bay Area from time to time. Since moving to SF 7 years ago, me and 4 other members from Cannonball have come to be known as the San Francisco “Jazz Mafia”. Centered in the Mission District of the city, the core members head the bands: Realistic, Realistic Orchestra, Shotgun Wedding Quintet, Shotgun Wedding Hip-Hop Symphony and other projects. The Jazz Mafia revolves around a 4 year-running weekly show on Tuesday night that has brought about some of the most creative collaborations in the Bay Area – Jazz Mafia Tuesdays are at Bruno’s at 20th and Mission. Shotgun Wedding Quintet is my main focus now, a unique Hip-Hop band that incorporates the best elements of ALL the musical projects I’ve had leading up to this point - namely Live Hip-Hop and adventurous instrumental music combined. SWQ has quickly become one of the most recognized bands in the SF scene in a short 2 years. Realistic Orchestra is an 18 piece band featuring all original tunes and arrangements and is also one of the most unique bands in the world – The new Realistic Orchestra CD has been received VERY well and has been played regularly on the Bay Area Non-commercial stations. I’m currently in the process of grant writing to try to take our work, especially with the large ensembles, out on the road and abroad.

Another project I’ve been involved in that I’m excited about: I wrote and arranged string quartet and woodwinds for the Velvet Teen “Elysium” album and have been doing live collaborations with them as well as possibly doing the next Teen record.
